Hello all! So, I sold my Vox Valvetronix to get a real tube amp. I fell in love with the Crate V16 at the local Guitar Center, and traded in my Vox in a heartbeat. Here’s my demo of the different kinds of stock (mostly) sounds you get with the Palomino V16 amplifier.
@VHOBSESSED78 Line 6 aren’t bad. I mean there nowhere close to anything tube. But for a beginning guitarist there great.
@TheSchoolsux345 It is a single coil pickup wound like that of a humbucker, but still the size of a single coil and technically still a single coil. Look up symour duncan hot rails.
what the hell is a humbucking single coil?!?
line 6 is the result of a computer and a low quality solid state amp combining their worst qualities. terrible digital effects.

@insainmusician You will have to replace the cheap op amp that comes stock. I have a Palomino V8 that hissed badly; I had the electrician at work yank the op amp and replace it with a high end Texas Instruments replacement – completely solved the issue and quieted the amp down. I also pulled the 12AX7 and replaced it with a 12AT7 – improved the head room (always a problem w/ small amps). If you are serious about modding, let me know and I will share the details w/ you.

they’re nice, certainly not as nice of a sound as the Crate. I’m saving up for a Dr Z Stangray.

At first it played great. But then I noticed the clean channel would fade in and out. Then it moved to the dirty channel. I figured it was the tubes, so I had it retubed. Got it back, thing played for five seconds and then it just shut off. Took it back, they said it blew it a fuse. It was fixed but then low and behold two days again the thing started popping cracking and fading in and out. So I sold it to gutiar center. Luckiily the day I took it in, it played perfectly.

I’m gettin a V15 with a Tone Tubby speaker for Christmas
I bought a V32 off line. I played it for a total of five minutes in 2 months because it was constantly in the shop. Then I traded it into guitar center. That was a year ago. The other day I was in guitar center and saw a V16 there. I thought I’d give them another shot. So I plugged in and the thing started popping and cracking. Haha… they sound great but reliability wise they just aren’t there.

i love this amp. me and my friends are looking to start a band so this kid came over and had this amp i could not stop playing through it i love its sweet and clear high gain tone.
Yeah so I just got this back from the tech. 6 MONTHS LATER! Anyway long story. The amp was shorting out to ground. Take it out of the case and play the amp. If that solves it then that is the problem. Sorry it took SOOOOO LONG
maby that amp has EL84′s in there. I have a crate vintage club and it is self bias, but not sure if that one has that. but great tone and playing m,an.
