    I feel the same way.

And I’d have a Collings and a Santa Cruz as well. But I love my MartinOM-21.

    @wungabunga

Yamahas are very nice guitars; under-rated in my opinion.

I own a MartinOM-21Special; just had it in my hands. I love my Martin. I’m so glad that I bought this guitar a few years ago, after much comparitive shopping. It definitely is sounding even better as it ages.

  3. iconoclastKM says:

Yes, yes; it becomes you dude!

    Lovely instrument!

  4. overban888 says:

it needs to be played to get the sound, that’s it, forget the new strings on it

@fulcher33 it is indeed bookmatched. madagascar rosewood is often cut from trees that are smaller than indian rosewood so they can’t be properly quartersawn – it’s often flatsawn producing a more figured look to the wood. when wood is highly figured like that, it’s much more difficult to get an even match to the grain from adjacent cuts. the saw blade takes some of the wood with it, so the two pieces of wood aren’t completely adjacent.

  6. fulcher33 says:

Hate to pee on your parade but that back isn’t “book matched”. Book matching refers to one piece of wood split down the middle and opened like a book. If this was book matched the wood grain would mirror each other on each side. This so obviously doesn’t. Great sounding guitar though.

this one seems A LOT better than this other eric clapton signature i played today. the one i played today sounded the same as a 300 dollar takamine. tonewise and playability. huge disappointment today =/

  8. edwardtang1977 says:

    perfect guitar!

  9. JasonCharlesMiller says:

I like how he says, “and it sounds OK too.” LOL! I’ve played that model before and it’s just AMAZING. The thing practically plays itself.

  10. wungabunga says:

Has been said that Yamahas don’t need to age either. Or can’t age, depending on how you interpret it!

I was playing just about every guitar I saw at the Arlington guitar show and then I played one of these. It whupped every other Martin and Larivee I’ve seen all day. I still love them Taylors though.

  14. thirddayfreak says:

that’s not soundin too good to me…

  15. pippofilippo1 says:

I’ve been in my favorite guitar center today,
and tested a lot of guitars, Martin, Taylor, Goodall, Gibson, Merrill, Lowden, and so on..
at the and I’ve buyed this guitar..
Really not to easy to take the decision, a lot of money (I know, I’ve payed the Clapton sign also..) for a non pro middle talented guitarist, but it beat by far all the others one…
Now my ears are happy and, maybe one day me and my fingers wll deserve it…

  16. AdinIsANightElf says:

    Id kill for that guitar

  17. chotchcas says:

needs to open up some. new martins are usually like that santa cruz’s on the other hand just sound good straight out the gate due to the old wood and crystallization that martin nor taylor could get due to their mass manufacturing.

  18. bacelines says:

These guitars are fantastic, played one earlier today. makes it hard to buy anything else after playing these lol..

  19. gheston999 says:

Yeah I just hate my son’s Taylor 910 – NOT!
At this price level I submit that there is less “better or worse” and more “just different”.
The acoustics of the room, mics, PA, etc., etc., effect the overall sounds, and then there’s break-in.
I really want a 000 Martin some day, but I will try out ten Martins before choosing one, as opposed to three Taylors; i.e., both Martin and Taylor make fabulous guitars above the $3,000 price point, but IMHO Taylor quality control beats Martin – these days.

  20. niaspear62 says:

does this guitar not sound a little thin to anyone? 000′s are normally very loud and oh so smooth and creamy and are a serious joy to play. i think it might just be the clapton signature. i played both the clapton and the john mayer at a guitar center and the mayer blew the clapton out of the water. the clapton is made out of far nicer woods so its kinda weird. haha just my two cents.

  21. rajiobaka says:

    sounds really good))
    i wanna this one)

  22. rkarnwls says:

love the reflection on the guitar :)

  23. ArthurTyler says:

very nice playing and great sounding guitar without question. I love Martin guitars but I also love custom builders. Great up and coming guitar builder is a young man named Rick Faris. Remember the name!

  24. themightyharrison says:

I like your playing as much as the guitars!

  25. skjoyner says:

I agree.I’d go with Martin over a Taylor any day.But if I had the bucks a Taylor would be in my collection too.
